Mothers Matter in Childbirth

Mothers Matter in Childbirth

A programme whose aims are to identify and address the delays which lead to maternal death amongst the poorest communities of Kyenjojo Region (Uganda), offering professional care, hope and optimism for a positive outcome to every pregnancy. Click HERE  to read the April to June 2025 report. Since October 2023, there have been approximately 950 births with a 100% safety success rate.

Church within a Church - St James' Church

For many years the only formal church building within the Miranga community, in which the Fountain of Peace village lies, has been St James’ Church.

The advent of Fountain of Peace and also Compassion has seen a significant growth in size of the congregation such that the original building has now outgrown its capacity. Click HERE to read more about the progress being made and click HERE   to see the demolishing of the old church.

Recently two supporters, separately, have organised fundraising events to raise funds for FOP. Anna (in the centre of the picture on the right) organised a quiz evening accompanied by a meal cooked by all three in the picture.

We are pleased to announce a set of twin boys, aged 15 months, at Fountain of Peace Children's Foundation taking the total number of children in our care to 91.

Overview / Building Partnerships  

The Fountain of Peace Children’s Foundation was founded in 2006. It was the inspiration of Peace Ruharuza (pictured left) to provide for critically disadvantaged children from the Kyenjojo region of Western Uganda, often left destitute and without hope through poverty or tragedy. Babies come to our project at or soon after birth and are cared for until adulthood. Click here  to listen to Peace explaining what FOP is all about. 

FOP is committed to working with other bodies and organisations who share our objectives. This may include schools, churches, businesses, social groups, or individuals who wish to work alongside us. We would welcome the opportunity to give an illustrated presentation of the work; we also have a bank of PowerPoint presentations that can be used for educational purposes, (for example: Environmental issues, Sustainability issues, Health & Poverty issues).
